Roxana Boroujerdi has spent 20 years feeding neighbors. She started Faith Food Bank in Everett, Washington, with two volunteers and about ten families a week. By the time she left, it was serving roughly 1,600 people every Friday with a crew of about 30 volunteers.
In 2025 she relocated to Bristol and relaunched the food bank as a mobile operation. Instead of a building, there is a van. Instead of a waiting room, there is a line. Each household picks its own breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks from the tables, so nobody goes home with food they won't eat, and every kid leaves with a craft kit. On a busy Saturday that has meant about 320 people in one morning.
Between giveaways, the same crew builds, repairs, and restocks about 20 Blessing Boxes around town, so there is food within reach at any hour. Have a spot for one?

Our legal name is Faith Food Bank, EIN 86-2249119, an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Bristol, Virginia, serving the Bristol VA/TN area. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Not a church. A kind of faith.
We are not part of any church or religious organization, and nobody at the van will ask about your beliefs. The van sets up in a church parking lot because it fits a long line; that church has no connection to us. The name is Roxana's, and she puts it this way:
"It started with faith. Faith our neighbors will support us. Faith donations will come. Faith we can provide food for everyone who needs it."
A wholesaler, a warehouse, and neighbors
We buy from a wholesaler in Elizabethton and pick up from PepsiCo in Johnson City, and we accept donated food. Fuel is a real cost: roughly $30 to $50 a week just to pick up food, restock the boxes, and run the van.
No ID. No questions. No paperwork.
We don't ask anyone to prove need or income. Everyone in the line is a neighbor, and everyone gets groceries.
Three people and a van
Right now the whole operation is three people. Each of us is over 60 and living with a disability, and we run every giveaway ourselves. We're proud of that. We would also love some help. Here's how to join us.
